The tapping system is based on a thermal imager and detects the steel stream during the tapping process. When the process is about to finish slag appears in the steel strem which the system detects and immediately communicates to the automation system in order to finish the process. The system provides additional image processing features like slopping detection when the converter has been over tilted.
